Moving Words blends Qigong (Chee-gōng) and the writing process and is beneficial for people at any stage of life. Writing can be a powerful tool for self-discovery and so can Qigong. They also can feel good and are a lot of fun. This class aims to inspire and support your creative spirit, whether you’re a professional or new to the experience. Although we will be writing regularly, this class is a place to share your creative projects whatever medium they emerge from.
Sara Valerio will teach you various, experience based, Qigong exercises and lead timed writing sessions using the Amherst Writers and Artists method, whose philosophy is simply: “Every person is a writer, and every writer deserves a safe environment in which to experiment.” We will use Zen koan’s, the I-Ching, and the Tao Te Ching along with other texts inspired by the Chinese classics to seed our imaginations and inspire our stories. Short meditations, writing and movement will happen in every class as well as an opportunity to share with one another.
